A ski trip with ten or fifteen people usually goes one of two ways. Either everyone books separate hotel rooms and spends the evening texting about where to meet, or you take one house, drop the wet gear in the hall and put the sauna on. Hakuba White Wood is the second kind of stay: a whole chalet in Nagano's Hakuba with five bedrooms, a sauna that heats to 110°C and a BBQ on the patio.
Why a whole chalet suits a group or two families
Looking for Hakuba ski accommodation for a group usually turns into counting rooms. A Hakuba chalet changes the question: instead of who sleeps where, you plan who cooks and who lights the sauna.
- Five bedrooms, up to 16 guests — nine beds, including futons in the tatami room, plus two futons in the living room
- One bathroom with a bathtub, one shower room and two toilets
- Full kitchen (fridge, freezer, microwave, stove, coffee maker), dishes, wine glasses and a dining table for the whole group
- Sauna, BBQ grill and patio
- Washer, iron and a drying rack for damp layers
- Free parking on site
- Pets allowed — tell us the number and type in advance
- Self check-in; two storeys, with stairs and no elevator
For two families, the tatami bedroom with futons is often the easy answer for the kids, and the living room futons give you two more places to sleep.

Raja stayed in March 2026 and summed up the mix of old and new, and how close the slopes and restaurants are:
Great quaint chalet with an authentic Japanese feel yet ultramodern. Very convenient for the ski slopes and the neighbouring restaurants, about 7–10 minutes' stroll away. Really enjoyed our stay — recommended and well priced.

A day in Hakuba, ending at 110°C
Hakuba sits under the Northern Japan Alps, and the valley holds a cluster of ski areas, with Happo-one the best known of them. Lift openings and conditions move with the season, so check the latest information before you go.
A day in the chalet tends to look like this:
- Morning: coffee in the kitchen, breakfast from whatever you picked up at the 7-Eleven nearby, boots on, cars loaded from the on-site parking
- Daytime: lifts and lunch on the mountain
- Late afternoon: wet gear onto the drying rack, sauna on. Instructions for the sauna come with your check-in details before arrival, and the house rules ask you to use it and the BBQ carefully
- Evening: hotpot in the kitchen, something on the BBQ, or a walk to a restaurant in Hakuba village
- Night: the bathtub, then five bedrooms and nobody arguing over the TV

It is not only a winter house. Samira stayed in September 2026:
A cozy and beautiful place to stay with a wonderful host. The house was clean and comfortable, a great place to relax and enjoy quality time with your loved ones, and you can enjoy a BBQ there. Conveniently located near the main Hakuba area.

What to bring, what is already here
- Winter tyres. Expect snow in winter — if you drive, they are essential. Parking is free on site
- A plan if you are not driving. Many groups come via Nagano on the Hokuriku Shinkansen and continue by bus, or arrive on the JR Oito Line. Timetables change, so check the latest information before you travel
- Something to wear in the sauna, and your own sense of how long 110°C is long enough
- Food for one big dinner. The 7-Eleven nearby covers basics; if you are cooking for a full house, shop properly on the way in
- Photo ID for every guest. By law we register everyone before arrival
- Pet details, if a dog is coming with you

Booking the chalet and getting in
Book on iconhotel.jp and the room rate is 10% lower than on booking sites, applied automatically — no code. The booking page shows the full total, including the cleaning fee and tax, before you pay; payment is the full amount by card at booking. As a whole house, it has free cancellation until 23:59 JST 14 days before check-in, and the same 14-day window applies to New Year, Golden Week and Obon bookings.
After booking, every guest registers with a photo ID through the form we send — Japan residents a photo ID, everyone else a passport. About three days before arrival you get the guidebook with the location, Wi-Fi and house rules; how to get in is sent separately. There is no front desk, so check-in is self check-in from 15:00, and checkout is by 11:00 (late checkout is possible for an hourly charge — ask in advance). No smoking indoors, and please keep noise and music down for the neighbours.
